Translation Events 1828

Joseph and Emma moved to a smaller cabin near the Isaac Hale home.

In January and February, Joseph transcribed the characters from the plates.

Martin Harris took the characters to Albany and New York

Martin Harris returned to Harmony in April and worked as a scribe for Joseph's translating.

In June Martin Harris took the first 116 pages to Palmyra to show his wife and 4 others

Also in June, Emma gave birth to their first son who died and was buried near the cabin.

Martin had lost the manuscript and Joseph was told by revelation he could no longer translate for a season.

Oliver Cowdery moved in to the Smith home in Palmyra to teach school, and learned about Joseph and the plates.
